NEW HAVEN POLICE CONTINUE PROSTITUTION-DETERRENCE INITIATIVE
(8/22/2008) NEW HAVEN- Thursday evening proved another successful sting operation by New Haven Police as part of a prostitution-deterrence initiative. Beginning shortly after 10 p.m. Thursday and continuing into early Friday morning, the New Haven Police Gun and Firearms Units arrested eight individuals. The sting, which covered both the Fair Haven and Dwight/Kensington Police Districts, involved a member of the Gun Unit posing as a "John". The following individuals were arrested for the charge of Prostitution:
1) Edwin Espada, 45-years-old of 321 Poplar Street
2) Mary Davis, 56-years-old of 12 Maple Avenue Wallingford
3) Wynona Carmon-Ramirez, of 45 Assumption Street
4) Michelle Jamison, 29-years-old of 480 Ferry Street
5) Karen Napoli, 47-years-old of 224 Crosswoods Road, New York, NY
6) Renee Milton, 31-years-old of 377 Ferry Street
7) Rhonda Watson, 45-years-old of 332 Munson Street
8) Natalie Bethea, 28-years-old of 22 Hedge St, (also charged with possession of narcotics)
For an unlimited amount of time, New Haven Police will continue sting operations to arrest “Johns” and prostitutes in an effort to significantly reduce incidents of prostitution throughout the City. Throughout these arrests, the Department will also continue to disseminate names and photographs of “Johns” and prostitutes to the public.
